Long-time horse rider, Wayne Tex will head the Coarsegold Rodeo on May 2 and 3 as its Grand Marshal.

For years, he participated in the Coarsegold Rodeo, even winning a few awards along the way, but now at 86 years old, Wayne Tex will be leading the Rodeo as its Grand Marshal.

Tex was born and raised in Coarsegold, and has a history with the rodeo from when he was a kid.

“The Coarsegold Rodeo is a big deal. It’s uplifting to me to see the people from all over the area come to the Rodeo. It was like a big hometown gathering,” he said. “It’s really cool. I never thought, in my wildest dreams, I would be involved in anything like this. It’s really an honor. It’s good for me to remember all of the stuff that went on when I was growing up.”
