Madera-area schools had plenty of representation at the 43rd annual City/County All-Star Softball Game on Wednesday at Fresno State. From left are Madera South’s Allie Cervantes, Liberty’s Ari Aguayo (holding the Most Inspirational Player plaque), Madera’s Sadie Gonzalez and Matilda Torres’ Layla Webster. While Aguayo played for the County, the other three played for the City.

FRESNO — The softball action was so good at the 43rd annual City/County All-Star Softball Game that they had to go an extra inning to determine the winner at Margie Wright Diamond at Fresno State.

Liberty Hawks’ standout Ari Aguayo scored the game-winning run to help the County team walk it off over the City, 8-7, Wednesday.

Although Aguayo didn’t receive the Player of the Game Award, she received her team’s Most Inspirational Award, instead, from 2025 All-Star Game Hall of Fame Inductee Dean Eller. The Most Inspirational Award is named after Eller’s daughter, Jenny.
