Letters: The arrogance of ignorance is killing us

The President of the United States started a war that he can’t justify and apparently can’t win. His unforced error has created an international crisis that he can’t spin. And our former allies, those friendly countries that he has insulted for years, are sitting back and letting him hang from the political petard that he hoisted on himself and the world.

China and Russia are laughing at him. While Trump is distracted by Iran’s refusal to surrender and the radioactive half-life of the Epstein files, our more significant enemies are cyber hacking American businesses, infiltrating Asian and African economies, and strengthening their standing around the world. And with Trump’s lifting of oil sanctions, Russia is making millions of dollars every day. It uses that money to support Iran and to kill Ukrainians.

Trump coquettishly teases the deployment of American boots on the ground as his Department of “War” releases videos of bomb explosions with cartoon animation and rock music while Hegseth postures like a frat boy after an all-night kegger. “Holy Ugly Quagmire, Batman!” War is not a video game. Dead Marines stay dead.
