Angelina and Ricardo Valenzuela host the annual Halloween memorial event in 2019 for Angelina’s brother, Jose Belmontes, who was murdered on Halloween 2003. Jose was born in October and he loved the holiday. Angelina and family are keeping his memory alive this year with a party, DJ and photo booth provided by In The Mix, haunted room and more.

Jose Salvador Belmontes died 20 years ago on Halloween night, shot by a gang member at Madera Avenue Market. He was 26-years-old.

Halloween was a special time for him. He loved to see kids in their costumes, and to give them candy as they came to trick or treat.

Jose’s sister, Angelina Valenzuela, honors the memory of her brother every year by hosting a Halloween event at her home. She says, “I want to provide a safe place for families to come on Halloween night.”
