With an innocent fly ball to right, the Fresno State Bulldogs repeated as the Mountain West Conference Baseball Tournament Champions in the heat in Mesa, Arizona, playing at the Spring Training home of the Chicago Cubs.Â
Madera South standout Murf Gray hit a three-run bomb to give the Bulldogs a comfortable lead in Saturday’s title game.Â
Last week, Gray found out he was the the winner of the Tony Gwynn Offensive Player of the Year for the MWC, sharing the trophy with another player. After the game, Gray won the tournament’s Most Valuable Player award for the second straight season. He is the first to be named to the All-Tournament team twice, and the first player to not only win back-to-back tournament MVPs, but the first to win two of them.
