Go figure

People come in all sizes and shapes, but I was just thinking about how our looks have changed over the years. Not only has fashion changed, but how our bodies look has also changed from years past. Much of that has to do our eating habits then and now, and also how we choose to keep our bodies fit.

Both of my grandmothers were rather “chunky.” As a child, I didn’t think much about that. They both just had that grandmother look. My mother’s mother, whom we called Gammie, had a weird shape, like she had a blanket stuffed in the upper part of her dress. She came from an era when women were not supposed to show the outline of their breasts.

Gammie got sick one time and lost some weight. People commented on her weight loss, saying she now had a “girlish figure.” It was a great compliment for her and it made her feel good, but I couldn’t see a girlish figure. I just saw the same Gammie with a blanket stuffed in her dress.
