Fire up the grill for some great barbecue. A rack of ribs or two is a popular choice.

Many of us have been getting mighty hungry for the kind of foods often seen when enjoying outdoor meals.

Where I live, it is still a bit iffy about the weather, with one day hot and the next day cold. Might be sunny or it might be raining. But that is typical this time of year. Luckily, I am retired, so I don’t have to wait for a weekend to get the barbecue grill going.

We might be the only ones who do not have a gas grill. We don’t even have a normal barbecue grill of any kind. We are currently using a very large metal tub for a firepit, with a customized and adjustable grate, thanks to the welding skills of my husband and oldest son. We move the firepit to the middle of the driveway, in order to set up in the safest area, dragging it with one of the tractors. I know… sounds weird and primitive, but it works great. We use oak and manzanita wood for the cooking coals.
