Coyotes fall in extra innings

Benny Munoz/The Madera Tribune

Madera’s Kailea Ricks rips a first inning double to score the first run of the game in Tuesday’s extra inning loss to Sanger. Ricks was responsible for all four Coyote runs.

The Madera Coyotes softball team battled the Sanger Apaches in an epic 11-inning battle that saw the Apaches coming away with a 5-4 victory Tuesday at Zimmerman Field.

The Coyotes had a chance in the final two innings, but couldn’t come up with the clutch hit, and a controversial call on a steal halted another scoring opportunity.

Although Sanger hit just .158 (3-for-19) with runners in scoring position, they made their hits count in the final innings.
