The Madera County Board of Supervisors unanimously voted to approve the appointment of three key County leadership positions in multiple departments.
Jamie Bax will now serve as the County’s Chief of Development Services overseeing Community and Economic Development and Public Works. The board also appointed Jared Carter as the new Director of Public Works and the County Road Commissioner. Behavioral Health Services welcomed their new director, Nickie Matus at the weekly meeting last week.
Combined, the three leaders bring nearly six decades of experience in their respective fields with nearly all of it in Madera County.
Bax has led a broad range of complex planning, development, and regulatory functions, including oversight of planning and code enforcement, building inspection, environmental health, and fire prevention operations.
Carter has overseen multimillion-dollar infrastructure and transportation improvement programs, managed departmental and division budgets, secured and administered local, state, and federal funding, and directed engineering and operational activities for critical County services.
Matus possesses extensive leadership experience spanning more than 17 years overseeing complex behavioral health, child welfare, and tribal community programs.
“Madera County’s greatest strength is our dedicated employees and the commitment they bring to serving our communities every day,” said Madera County Board of Supervisors Chairman Bobby Macaulay. “The promotion of these amazing individuals is further evidence that Madera County is the best place to live, work, and play. I am confident each of them will provide strong leadership, continue building outstanding teams, and help Madera County deliver the high-quality services our residents deserve.”
