Baby New Year takes his time
Tami Jo Nix/The Madera Tribune Baby New Year 2019 Jayy’r Mauricio Daza and his parents LillyAna Perez and Johnathan Daza of Madera welcome him to their family. He is their first child.
Each year The Madera Tribune celebrates the beginning of the New Year by showcasing the birth of the first baby born at Madera Community Hospital.
This year Baby 2019, Jayy’r Mauricio Daza took his own sweet time to make his debut waiting until 6:35 p.m. Jan. 1 to arrive.
“He was due five days ago,” said new mother LillyAna Perez of Madera.
“He weighed 7.5 pounds and is 19.5 inches long,” said father Johnathan Daza, also of Madera. The maternal grandmother is Becky Perez and the paternal grandparents are Jorgelina and Gonzalo Daza all of Madera.
The baby’s father is a construction worker who is also attending Madera Adult School. LillyAna is on maternity leave as a hostess at Black Bear Diner.
Greeting the new family was a pile of baby gifts collected by MCH employees, said Diana Arballo, RN, the house supervisor and maternity charge nurse on Jan. 1. The family also receives a complimentary one-year subscription by mail to The Madera Tribune.
Mother and baby are doing well and are expected to leave the hospital by the end of the week.
