Pedestrian fatally struck by train
Madera Police Department officers responded to a report of a pedestrian who was struck by a train in the area of Gateway Drive. and 3rd Street on Tuesday at about 2:45 p.m. When officers arrived, they found a 52-year-old male, who was deceased, near the railroad tracks. All involved parties were contacted on scene. The circumstances surrounding the incident are still under investigation, however there is no indication of foul play.

Golf club to help county food banks

Female trailblazer waits to make history

Shots fired during robbery
Madera Police Department officers were dispatched to Olivia’s Fine Jewelry in the 1100 block of County Club Drive regarding a robbery and shots fired Thursday at about 7 p.m. Officers learned multiple suspects entered the business wearing all black clothing and masks. Elks Lodge 1918 to host Hoop Shoot
The Madera Elks Lodge 1918 will host its annual Hoop Shoot contest on Saturday at the John Wells Youth Center (701 E. 5th Street). Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. with competition beginning at 10 a.m. There will be six different divisions — 8-9-year-old boys and girls, 10-11-year-old boys and girls, and 12-13-year-old boys and girls.
