The team from Madera Martial Arts won the team championship at the IFK-PBK Tournament, hosted by Madera Martial Arts. The tournament, which is the first in the Central Valley was presented by Big Valley Mortgage and featured 28 teams.

“This was a no knockout technical bout tournament,” tournament director Chris Arias said. “Safety of the athletes was our number one concern and with over 100 athletes competing and 55 matches we had zero injuries.”

Before the tournament, MMA champions and Madera-grown fighters Zoila and Stephanie Frausto held a kickboxing seminar for the athletes. However, thanks to a sponsorship from Joey’s Glass and Tint, the seminar was provided for at no charge to the tournament fighters.

A portion of the proceeds from the tournament were donated to the Madera South wrestling program and the Madera Coyotes boys soccer program.
