Madera County Sheriff’s Deputies responses to incidents on July 3-9. Monday, July 3

  • 12:57 a.m. — Deputy was dispatched to a residence in the 13000 block of road 29 in Madera regarding a report of a female subject threatening to kill herself with knife. The female was transported by ambulance to a hospital for a 72 hour psychological evaluation. The case was closed.

  • 5:25 p.m. — Deputy was dispatched to the 53000 block of Road 432 in Bass Lake regarding theft of a gas can and propane. There was no evidence or leads, case was closed.

  • 5:30 p.m. — Deputy was dispatched to the 20000 block of Brightwood Road in Madera regarding a report of harassment over the internet. The deputy conducted an investigation. A report was written for documentation purpose only.

  • 8:10 p.m. — Deputy stopped a subject for operating a personal water craft on Bass Lake after 8 p.m. and for not wearing a type 3 personal floatation device. Deputy could smell an odor of alcoholic beverage on his breath. A field sobriety test was administered and he was arrested for boating under the influence at 8:25. A case report was written.

Tuesday, July 4

  • 7:30 a.m. — Deputies conducted a traffic stop in the area of Road 26 and Avenue 17 1/2 in Madera for not having a front license plate. When deputies approached the vehicle there was a firearm in plain view behind the driver’s seat. The driver was arrested and booked into the Madera County Department of Corrections for possession of a loaded firearm.

Wednesday, July 5

  • 1:08 a.m. — Deputy conducted a self initiated vehicle check in the 54000 block of Road 432 in Bass Lake. The vehicle was towed for being expired over one year. The case was closed.

  • 6:35 a.m. — Deputy was dispatched to the 49000 block of Golden Oak Drive in Oakhurst regarding vandalism to a basketball hoop. The chain was cut; a report was requested for documentation. Refer report closed until further leads develop.

  • 8:36 a.m. — Deputy was dispatched to the area of Road 200 and Wyle Ranch Road in North Fork regarding a suspicious person laying on the side of the roadway. The subject was determined to be gravely disabled and a protective hold placed on the subject and transported to the local hospital for treatment.

Thursday, July 6

  • 5:56 a.m. — Deputy was dispatched to the 380000 block of Serpa Canyon Road in Coarsegold regarding a civil issue over property between two brothers. The subject who discharged a firearm was a convicted felon. He was arrested and transported to Madera Department of Corrections where he was booked. Case referred to District Attorney’s office for charges to be filed.

  • 7:21 a.m. — Deputy was dispatched to a business in the 46000 block of Lucky Lane in Coarsegold regarding a stolen cane. Deputy identified and contacted the suspect and convinced them to return the cane. The owner did not wasn’t to press charges. Case was closed.

  • 9:21 p.m. — Deputies were dispatched to a domestic disturbance in the 33000 block of Road 224 in North Fork. It was determined a male subject had strangled and slammed his former girlfriend’s head into the bath tub. The male subject had left prior to deputies’ arrival. Medical was refused and a report was taken to be filed with the Madera County District Attorney’s Office.

Friday, July 7

  • 6:39 a.m. — Deputy was dispatched to the 31000 block of Blackfoot Road in Coarsegold regarding a dog bite. A case report was taken to be forwarded to Animal Control.

  • 11:45 a.m. — Deputy conducted a routine traffic enforcement stop on a vehicle in the area of Hodges Hill and CA-41 in Oakhurst which resulted in the driver being arrested for an outstanding Madera County arrest warrant. The subject was booked into jail without incident.

  • 9:44 p.m. — Deputies were dispatched to the 32000 block of Meadow Ridge Road in Coarsegold regarding an adult male who was arrested for being in possession of a dirk/dagger. The subject was cited and released. Case forwarded to District Attorney’s office for charges.

Saturday, July 8

  • 00:51 a.m. — Deputy made contact with an individual on Lucky Lane near CA-41 in a vehicle. The driver was arrested for being in the possession of a loaded concealed handgun on his person. All evidence was collected and booked at the Sheriff’s Office. The subject was booked at the Madera County Department of Corrections. Case to be forwarded to the District Attorney’s Office for charges.

  • 5:26 p.m. — Deputy was dispatched to the 30000 block of Horseshoe Drive in Coarsegold regarding a possible theft. Upon arrival a suspect was detained and an investigation ensued. It was found that the suspect stole around $10,000.00 in jewelry. All jewelry was located and returned to the owner. The suspect was arrested for grand theft and booked into the Madera County Department of Corrections. Case closed by arrest.

  • 9:41 p.m. — Deputy was dispatched to a residence located within the 30000 block of Horseshoe Drive in Coarsegold regarding a report of a possibly suicidal male armed with a firearm. During the investigation it was determined the male was a danger to himself due to a mental condition. He was placed on a 5150 hold and transported to a hospital via ambulance for evaluation and or treatment. The firearm was recovered under the authority of 8102 W&I and held for safekeeping at the Sheriff’s Oakhurst Substation Property Warehouse. This case has been closed.

Sunday, July 9

  • 9:36 a.m. — Deputy was dispatched to a residence located in the 19000 block of Oakhill Road in Madera regarding an alleged missing male adult subject. The male subject was not located: Case to be forwarded to Detectives for further investigation.

  • 4:35 p.m. — Deputy was dispatched to the 48000 block of Lindsay Lane regarding a theft of prescription glasses. There were no leads, case to be closed.
