Matilda Torres’ Jose Velazquez throws a pitch during Friday’s game with Madera South. Velazquez allowed four runs, one earned, over six innings to pick up the win. He struck out seven and walked three.

The Matilda Torres Toros baseball team took advantage of its extra runners for a 6-2 victory over the Madera South Stallions at Eddie Chapa Field.

The Stallions out hit the Toros 7-4, but the Toros left 11 runners on base in the victory. They were the beneficiaries of eight walks and three hit batters, in addition to three Stallion errors Friday night. The Toros were 2-of-13 with runners in scoring position.

Madera South had to deal with some adversity after its walk-off loss to the Toros earlier in the week that resulted in some coaching changes.
