Torres baseball foundation piece headed to Fresno Pacific

Matilda Torres’ Will Valmonte, and his family, from left father Vern, brother Kaden and mother Kelly, are all smiles after signing his National Letter of intent to play baseball at Fresno Pacific University.

He threw the first pitch in Matilda Torres Toros baseball history, and he was a part of leading the Toros to their first-ever Central Section Championship baseball game. Now, Will Valmonte will head to Fresno Pacific University after signing his National Letter of Intent.

“It feels nice, actually,” Valmonte said. “I didn’t want to go to a school that was too far because I wanted to stay close to family and friends. A lot of us are in California. I don’t have a lot of family outside of the state. It’s nice to be in the middle of the state.”

Not only was Valmonte one of the cornerstones for the Toros’ baseball team, but he was also the first baseball player to sign an NLI. He had his choices of Stanislaus State, Fresno State, San Francisco State and CSU Monterey Bay.
