Matilda Torres’ Jose Velasquez throws one of his 94 pitches over six innings in Friday’s 4-3 victory over Roosevelt. Velasquez only allowed four hits and struck out six.

The Matilda Torres Toros baseball team pulled out a scrappy and resilient 4-3 victory over the Roosevelt Rough Riders at Matilda Torres.

The Toros played Friday’s game without three starters who were ill. Roosevelt just came out of a game Tuesday where they defeated Madera South 14-2.

The Rough Riders were limited to one run through six innings before rallying for two runs in the seventh.
