Toros battling inconsistency

Matilda Torres middle blocker J’Lynn Mitchell goes up for a kill attempt during Tuesday’s loss to Sunnyside. Mitchell had eight kills in the four-set match.

It’s midway though the North Yosemite League season and Matilda Torres Toros girls volleyball coach Adam Horner’s team is still battling inconsistency.

At some points during its match with Sunnyside on Tuesday, the Toros looked like the better team. However, there were more stretches where the Toros just hoped the Wildcats made a mistake in a four-set loss in the Torres Gym.

The Toros lost the first set 25-18, but battled back to take the second set, 25-23. However, the Toros suffered multiple, multi-point runs and the Wildcats took the third and fourth set by identical 25-12 scores.
