Madera’s Isabella Aguirre delivers a pitch during Wednesday’s home loss to Clovis East. Aguirre allowed three unearned runs on just two hits over the final five innings. She also delivered an RBI single in the 8-6 loss.

The Madera Coyotes softball team won the West Valley Invitational after playing three games in the Arizona heat on Saturday, and then drove more than eight hours home on Sunday.

Three days later, the Coyotes still looked tired in an 8-6 loss to the Clovis East Timberwolves on Wednesday at Leroy Zimmerman Field.

The Coyotes showed some fight, though, scoring five runs in the final two innings, and had the game-tying run at second and the game-winning run at first in the seventh inning.
