There’s a crown on your head

We were taught as children to treat others in a kind and loving way. Most of us learned the “Golden Rule,” which says, “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” In fact, we are taught to be selfless and have humility, and to love our neighbors as ourselves. Most of us fall short in all of these ways of treating others. We are sometimes loving, and sometimes selfless, and sometimes we treat others well.

One of the ways we like to treat others well is to honor them on special days, like birthdays. I realize that not all people celebrate birthdays, and I respect that, but a birthday is a day that we all remember as “our own special day,” whether we celebrate it or not.

When you remember to honor a person on a special day, with a greeting or a card or gift, it warms the heart of the recipient. Why? Because you remembered them.
