Successful Chowchilla fair for Alview-Dairyland 4-H

Alview Dairyland 4-H’s Zane Mielke winning Reserve Best of Show in Poultry at the Chowchilla-Madera Fair.
For the month of May, Alview-Dairyland 4-H members and their animals attended the Chowchilla-Madera Fair.
Alview-Dairyland had 25 members who sold their animals. There were members whose animals didn’t make weight requirements, but they were still able to show in showmanship. Alview-Dairyland had a lot of members showing large animals such as swine, dairy and beef cattle, goats, and sheep.
The Small Animal Expo started the fair week off on May 10. Alview-Dairyland had thrree members in poultry and one member in rabbits. One of the three members for poultry, Zane Mielke, won Reserve Champion Best of Show for his duck, Blueberry. Another member of the poultry group, Nate Moore, showed his ISA Brown Hen and got second place in his Breeding class. Another group that entered the fair was Alview-Dairyland’s swine group. The group had nine members that got to sell their market hogs. One of the members, Dixie Kennedy, won Reserve Supreme Market Hog, Champion 4-H Market Hog, and Champion 4-H Dark Cross, and got Junior 4-H showman, as well as sixth overall 4-H showman.
Another member, Harrison McDaniel, won first in his class for market hog, and his brother, Lincoln McDaniel, won third in class for showmanship.
Other members who participated in pig showmanship were Nate Moore, David Black, Rosanna Stretch, Evelyn Stretch, Blair Fagundes, Madison Moore, Emery Souza and Brynn Brueker. The group also won cleanest barn award out of all the clubs and FFA groups.
The Alview-Dairyland’s goat group had 14 members who showed their market goats. One of the members, Rheigan Bass, got fourth in her market class. Another member who placed was Quincy Kennedy, who placed in her market class. A couple honorable mentions are Suleyma Martinez, Delanie Goodman, Charlize Goodman, Blayke Bass, Maci Bradley and Wyatt Brown. The group also entered in for the club overall, and received second place.
The Alview-Dairyland lamb group had three members who showed their market lambs. One of the members, Bristol Rasey, won Reserve Supreme Champion Ewe and Champion Pair of Wether Dam Ewes. Another member who showed his lamb was Reid Freitas, and got third in his class for market and won first in his class for showmanship. An upstanding mention is Kennedy Creighton with her lamb, Stormy.
Lastly, is the Alview-Dairyland 4-H Dairy Heifer and Beef Cattle group. The group won the Cleanest Barn area award out of all the other FFAs and Clubs. The club had a couple members who won such as Cristian Soares, Adrian Soares, Sofia Soares, Harrison McDaniel, Boston Tharp and Lincoln McDaniel.
Cristian Soares won Advanced Showman for 4-H clubs, and he also entered Round Robin. Sofia Soares won Grand Champion Grade Heifer. Harrison McDaniel won Reserve Supreme for Replacement Heifer. Lincoln McDaniel won Reserve Grand Champion for Replacement Heifer. Tharp placed fifth in Showmanship with his Dairy Cow, Gemma.
Overall, the Chowchilla-Madera Fair was a huge success for our club. The club is excited to see what next year’s fair and upcoming events will bring.
