Local ranchers drive their herds down Robertson Boulevard during the annual Chowchilla Cattle Drive on Friday morning.

The annual Chowchilla Cattle Drive made its thunderous return down Robertson Boulevard Friday morning with style and fanfare, surrounded by rodeo royalty.

This iconic event began in 1958, and is considered the only public cattle stampede in the nation. It marks the official kickoff to the rodeo festivities at the Chowchilla Fairgrounds, which ran through Sunday.

Hundreds lined up to watch local ranchers and their herds bring the spirit of the Old West to life. The Cattle Drive celebrates Chowchilla’s deep agricultural roots, setting the stage for a weekend packed with community festivities.

I just saw this. Umm not really the only public cattle drive in the United States since the Fort Worth Stockyards in Texas holds public cattle drives on a public street that runs near the south end of their property two times a day But thanks anyway for the positive article about this tradition of my hometown, Chowchilla.
