Matilda Torres’ Buffalo Soito is surrounded by his family while signing to run cross country and track at UC Merced. He is the first Torres male cross country runner to run for a four-year college.
In the fall, Matilda Torres’ Buffalo Soito (pronounced Soto) will become the first Matilda Torres boys cross country runner to run at a four-year school when he runs for UC Merced.
“I didn’t know I was the first,” he said. “ Now that I know I’m the first to go to a four-year, my teammates have something to look up to. Since I’m going to a four-year, they could go to a better school than I am.”
Soito celebrated his signing during a ceremony at Matilda Torres, and was the only boy there.
