Madera County Chief Probation Officer Chris Childers receives a plaque and proclamation from the County Board of Supervisors. Childers retired from a 37-year career in law enforcement.
The Madera County Board of Supervisors recognized the contributions of several of its employees within the probation department.
From the probation department, Chief Probation Officer Chris Childers was recognized for his commitment to serving the County as he retires. Also from the probation department, two individuals were recognized as Employees of the Year — Karen Villavicencio and McArthur Yang — during Tuesday’s meeting.
Childers, who after serving in Madera County for 37 years, embarks on his retirement officially as of the Monday before receiving the proclamation. Beginning his work with the Madera County Jail, Childers transitioned to working with the probation department just seven years later. He was appointed as Chief Probation officer in 2020.
