Playgrounds hit by vandals

Vandals lit fire to several pieces of playground equipment at the John Wells Youth Center earlier this week. Costs are estimated at more than $40,000 to replace the equipment.

For the second time in a week, Madera Police Officers responded to a fire at a city playground. 

Tuesday night, MPD responded to a fire at the John Wells Youth Center playground. The fire caused significant damage to approximately one quarter of the play equipment. 

Last Sunday, MPD responded to a fire at the Rotary Park playground.
