Opinion: Superior Dairy is closed!

Many readers like to munch on something while they pore over their books. Others enjoy the cool refreshment of a bowl of ice cream while turning pages. Well, some of the best ice cream in the world comes from valley cows and is processed in a valley creamery.

There are several places in the Central Valley that are truly “destinations” that bring people to enjoy their beauty or uniqueness. Hanford used to have two of them. Imperial Dynasty was legend for those who enjoy a sit-down dinner, and Superior Dairy is renown for its “superior” ice cream and the size of its servings.

In the 1980s, my ex was looking for “someplace different” to hold the Christmas Party for her small staff. I suggested Imperial Dynasty. We lived in Bakersfield, and 10 of us took the train to Hanford and walked a few blocks to the restaurant. It was a great experience and my wife’s therapists and their spouses loved it.
