As Madera Unified School District welcomed back more than 20,000 students on Thursday, the 2025-26 school year brought several impactful updates: the district is expanding its cell phone pouch policy to all high schools, opening new Transitional Kindergarten (TK) classrooms, and continuing a strong safety partnership with the Madera Police Department.
Cell phone pouches at high schools
To support student focus, engagement, and mental wellness, Madera Unified is expanding its use of cell phone pouches to all high school campuses this school year.
This builds on the successful rollout at middle schools, which began in January 2025.
