MPD investigates robbery

Madera Police Department patrol officers responded to BJ’s Liquor following a report of an attempted robbery.

During the incident Friday night, one suspect assaulted the store clerk while demanding cash from the register, while a second suspect acted as a lookout.

As the altercation unfolded, a second employee attempted to intervene, and was also assaulted by the first suspect. After the failed robbery attempt, the first suspect stole a shovel from the business, and both suspects fled the scene on foot.
