The sentiments of Dr. Martin Luther King will echo off the walls of Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School as student speakers memorialize the civil rights leader who was assassinated in 1968 at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis, Tennessee.

The annual celebration for the National Day of Remembrance, sponsored by the Martin Luther King, Jr. Local Host Committee, will begin with a reception at 2 p.m., followed by the program at 2:30 p.m.

The theme for this year’s festivity is “A Change Is Going to Come.” One of the highlights of the event is the presentation of student speakers who had been selected at the December auditions. In addition, Safari Williams, a student at Ranchos Middle School will read her poem, “A Change Is Going to Come.”
