Middle quarters lead Toros

David Casas rises up for a mid-range Jumper during Tuesday’s win over Madera South. Casas scored 17 points with a pair of 3-pointers and went eight-for-eight from the free throw line to lead the Toros.

The Matilda Torres Toros boys basketball team outscored the Madera South Stallions 33-18 in the second and third quarters for a 59-45 regular season finale victory at Madera South.


In the other two quarters, Madera South outscored the Toros 27-24 Tuesday on Madera South’s Senior Night. The Stallions honored Asael Flores, Hasani Heard, Eduardo Hernandez and Angel Peramo before the game.


Of the five Torres players who scored, four reached double-figures. Henry Pacheco and David Casas led the Toros with 17 points each. Pacheco hit five 3-pointers and Casas was eight-of-eight from the free throw line.
