May is Click It or Ticket Month

The national seat belt use rate is at 91.2 percent, and in California, it’s about 95 percent, which is good, but it can be better.

Click It or Ticket isn’t about the citations; it’s about saving lives. Of the 23,953 people killed in passenger vehicle crashes in 2023, 49 percent were not wearing seat belts.

Buckling up helps keep everyone safe and secure inside a vehicle, whereas not buckling up can result in being totally ejected from the vehicle in a crash, which is almost always deadly.
