Former Madera South baseball standout and Fresno State Bulldog Murf Gray was selected as a competitive balance pick between the second and third rounds of Sundays Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft by the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Gray was the 139th rated player in the draft, according to MLB.com, but the Pirates liked the slugger’s ability to hit the long ball.
Gray is believed to be the highest drafted baseball player in Madera’s illustrious baseball history.
