Madera County announces Success Stories

The Madera County School Boards Association (MCSBA) selected Madera High School graduates John Akana and Karen Almaraz, along with Freedom Home School graduate Xariyah Gordon as individuals to feature as “Success Stories.”

A 2019 Madera High School graduate, John Akana discovered his passion for engineering as a team member of MadTown Robotics. 

He learned essential technical and leadership skills and developed a strong work ethic. Through dedication and a drive to win, Akana helped the 2019 robotics team outperform 7,000 teams from around the world to become a World Champion Robotics Team, the first of three for Madera Unified.
