Liberty’s Ethan Dunn cuts up the field during a second half run in last week’s victory over Mendota. He rushed for 130 yards and two touchdowns, and also had a kick-off return for a touchdown.
For the second game in a row, the Liberty Hawks line play proved to be superior to help open the season with two straight victories after a 38-13 win over Mendota on August 29.
The Hawks offensive line — Deegan Shandor, Brody Sisco, Felipe Chavarria, Abner Hernandez and Anthony Gaitan — helped the Hawks rush for 280 yards and put together two 80-plus yard scoring drives.
In a season-opening win over Strathmore the week before, Liberty rushed for 395 yards. The line play also overlapped to the defensive line where four of the five offensive line starters play both ways.
