Liberty’s Talan LaMattina shakes off a Minarets tackler to score the first of his three touchdowns in Friday’s 35-21 victory over the previously undefeated Minarets Mustangs. LaMattina led all rushers with 142 yards on 18 carries.

O’NEALS — The Liberty Hawks football team didn’t play nice guests Friday night while traveling to play undefeated Minarets in a Northwest Sequoia Conference match-up.

The Mustangs were riding high after heading into the game undefeated after six weeks. However, by the end of the game, the Mustangs were defeated while the Hawks are riding high heading into their Homecoming week.

“They were playing good football,” head coach Mike Nolte said. “I thought we could be physical with them, and we were tonight. That’s a big win. I don’t care who we’re playing, we need our wins.
