Liberty’s Sebastian Graham (32) scores his first touchdown of the season in Friday’s 34-7 victory over Sanger West.

The Sanger West Hornets scored a touchdown on their opening drive against the Liberty Hawks. However, the rest of the way, the Hawks outscored the Hornets 34-0 and outgained them 285-104 to improve to 2-0 on the season.

After the opening drive touchdown, the Hornets didn’t have a drive of more than 12 yards until the final two drives of the game when it was already decided. Meanwhile, the Hawks scored on five straight possessions for a 34-7 victory Friday at Liberty.

“Our kids settled in a little bit,” head coach Mike Nolte said. “Usually, when people game plan for other teams, the first drive looks a lot better. We’re not doing a lot different. Our kids just settled in and we played a lot better than we did last week. We shut their running game down pretty well. We didn’t give up the big play.”
