Liberty’s Ryleigh Conae puts down a kill during a five-set victory over Minarets on Thursday. Conae had 10 of Liberty’s 44 kills in the five-set win.

The Liberty Hawks girls volleyball team battled back from a 2-1 set deficit to not only force a deciding fifth set, but pull out the victory over Minarets last week to open Northwest Sequoia Conference action.

A week after a disappointing loss to Reedley, the Hawks came out more determined with more energy.

“Energy was the difference,” head coach Grant Clark said. “They were connected from the bench to the court. They played their tails off.”
