The Madera Elks Lodge completed its Backpack Project through the Elks National Foundation Grant process. Chairperson April Parrish applied for the grant monies to support this project. The project also received generous donations from members.
The Lodge purchased backpacks with essential school supplies and a healthy snack. A committee of Elk members and volunteers helped by stuffing the packs and delivering to selected schools.
This project is to assist under-privileged children in the community. These schools were selected for distribution of the packs: Eastin Arcola, Dixieland, La Vina, Sherman Thomas and Liberty Charter Schools. The goal of the project is to provide necessary supplies to needy children in our community who would not otherwise be prepared for their school year.
