Madera’s Malea Ricks flies into third base en route to an inside-the-park home run in the first inning of Tuesday’s Easter Classic win over Clovis.
In a final match-up between two of the most successful softball coaches in Central Section history, Judy Shaubach and her Madera Coyotes came out with a 13-6 victory over Mike Noel at the Clovis Cougars to finish the Buchanan Easter Classic.
After tripping over themselves in the third inning to allow Clovis to score five runs to tie the game, the Coyotes closed the game with seven runs in the fourth and fifth innings for victory Tuesday, just before the rain came.
The victory closed out an impressive three-game winning streak. After falling to Clovis West, 9-0, in the opening game of the tournament, the Coyotes outscored Hanford, Liberty and Clovis by a combined 37-6 with two shutouts.
