The Madera City council received an update to the emergency repairs on Avenue 13 for the sewer main trunk line, approved a contract to continue the progress of the Olive and Knox Road widening project, and approved a 60-day extension for the annual fiscal year budget report at last week’s regularly scheduled meeting Tuesday evening.
Members of the council received an update to the progress of repairs from City officials. Giving a PowerPoint presentation updating the status of the recent collapse of the city sewer trunk line, which opened two sinkholes, consumed a tractor-trailer and placed the city on a wastewater management alert, Ellen Bitter described the current state of the repair progress, and what to anticipate in the weeks to come.
Recommending the City to continue the state of the emergency status proclaimed by the Council, Bitter recapped the recent events and described the repair process of the trunk line via a lining method, as recommended by Floyd Johnson Construction.
