The City of Madera set its license renewal fee for cannabis businesses last week, and received several informational update reports, including one from the Parks and Community Services Department.

Community Development Director, Will Tackett brought to the City Council a proposal of an established annual cannabis permit renewal fee. An amount has yet to be set following the city’s adoption of the commercial business permit ordinance in 2021 leading to the city awarding eight cannabis sales permits.

The city adopted fees for the application in 2021, then in 2022 adopted fees for the appeal hearings, and in 2024, the city adopted fees and approved an agreement with HGL to perform certain services including annual post occupancy inspections and annual revenue audits.
