BSU hosts Black History Month

The African Drum Interactive musicians entertain the crowd during the Black History Month Celebration.

Despite having to move venues, the crowd that moved with the Black History Month Celebration moved Madera City Councilwoman Anita Evans to tears.

In a last minute decision, the Black History Month Celebration was moved from McNally Park to the Pan American Center because of the weather. While the winds were blowing outside and dark clouds on the horizon, guests were cozy inside, watching the ceremony Sunday afternoon.

Evans and her Black Saints United group hosted the fourth annual Black History Month Celebration to honor the past, celebrate the present and inspire the future, said BSU’s Yvonne Neely.
