Book Talk: Phillip Margolin, ‘The Darkest Place’

Detectives Roger Dillon and Carrie Anders knock on the door of Marjorie Loman’s house. Upon gaining entry, Carrie says, “I’m afraid I have some very bad news for you, Mrs. Loman. Your husband has passed away.”

Marjorie replies, “That’s the best news I’ve had in months. Did the bastard overdose on cocaine, or did his girlfriend stab him?”

Thus begins Phillip Margolin’s 25th novel and the fourth in his Robin Lockwood series, “The Darkest Place” (2022, 304 pages). Although Margolin has 12 standalone books and two other series, the Robin Lockwood novels (the newest in his collection) are my favorites.
