A resolution for the new year

At the beginning of each year, I make a decision to do something, either differently or better than I did the prior year. This is more commonly known as a “New Year’s Resolution,” and I know many folks who claim they do not make New Year’s resolutions, because they say they don’t keep them anyway.

My track record is actually pretty good for New Year’s resolutions. I try to choose something that is realistic, and not some vague idea, like I’m going to lose weight.

Now, I realize that a self-improvement plan, or a commitment to do something beneficial can take place any time during the year. It doesn’t have to be a “new year” thing. However, I find that if I start something at the beginning of the year, I am more likely to continue it. It’s just a good starting time for me. (I did resolve to lose weight one year in November, and I amazed myself at my success. I’ll give you more information on that venture another day.)
