The holiday seasons are upon us now. We just passed the fun Halloween time, and then November brings the season of harvest and thankfulness. Thanksgiving reminds us to show our gratitude for all our blessings, which are many.
December brings the countdown to the celebration of the day we know as Christmas. According to an old poem written in the late 1800s by Christina Rossetti, “Love came down at Christmas.” It was Jesus who taught us to love each other. In fact, he commanded it. “Love your neighbor as yourself,” (Matthew 22:39).
So, love can be described in many ways, and there are various kinds of love. There is the love a parent has for a child, the romantic love two people have for each other, and love between friends, among other kinds. We also have the kind of love we have for God and that love flows through into all the other kinds of love we have for each other. “We love because he first loved us,” (1 John 4:19).
