Thomas Jefferson Leadership students planned and carried out a service project to serve a meal to the homeless and other members of the community.
Thomas Jefferson Leadership students are actively learning how to use their skills and interests to benefit their community. The 36 students in Mr. Hernandez’s leadership class are challenging themselves to create and carry out a total of 12 projects this school year.
One such project occurred this weekend, as a team of students prepared 50 meals and then distributed them around the community.
Another project currently in progress is the collection of used sports equipment, which will then be delivered for use by various programs in Madera.
These leadership students have also been busy volunteering at events such as the Chamber of Commerce Pomegranate Festival, the Parks and Recreation Halloween event, the Soroptimist Crab Feed, and working along the river trail.
The class enjoys opportunities to take what they learn in the classroom and to apply it to real life in their community.
