Don’t let this happen to you…

Have you ever had something happen to you that totally threw you into a frenzy and caused a sudden change in your attitude for that day? Oh my! Isn’t it the pits?

On Monday morning of this week when I arrived at The Madera Tribune, I had decided the very first thing I would do was to write my article for “Nancy’s Corner.” I opened up Word, and I got an error message that said my program needed to be repaired. I tried several times, to no avail. What a frustrating day that was for me! Needless to say, my article for Wednesday’s paper did not get written.

Technology often exasperates us very much, and it is disturbing to deal with such frustration. Our little electronic devices and computers often control us, and not the other way around. They hold us captives. When we look around us, what do we see? People everywhere are carrying their cellphones or tablets, and texting or talking on these devices. Whenever they malfunction or don’t do exactly what is intended, or when they take an extra couple of seconds to perform tasks, next comes frustration or even anger. What is the matter with us? Our society is so dependent on these inanimate objects!

Take a deep breath now. Remember what part of your life is worth living. Appreciate the day, and all the great things the day brings. When an inanimate object causes you to fume, call a friend and tell that friend what has irritated you. I could bet that friend will cause you to laugh at your irritation. Laughter is the best medicine for aggravation.

Don’t let this happen to you. Do not let your computer ruin your day or your relationships with others. Turn the other cheek. Let that computer attack you, and you will have the last laugh.

Have a great day! Thanks for listening.

— My love to all,

Nancy
