Hospital to show off its lawn, gardens at annual fundraiser

The Madera Community Hospital Foundation will play host at its annual fundraiser on Sept. 28 with a few changes in menu and venue from past parties.
The get-together, with the theme Moroccan Summer Night, will be held from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. on the newly beautified hospital campus, according to Sherrie Bakke, the hospital’s business development director.
The food, Moroccan-inspired appetizers, will be created by Madera Community Hospital executive chef Alan Gallardo and the hospital catering staff.
Reservations for the 21-and-over event must be made on line in advance at MaderaHospital.org/Mixer. Tickets are $35 per person, and include cocktails and entertainment.
“Moroccan Summer Night is a fundraiser and a friendraiser,” said John Markle, president of Madera Community Hospital Foundation.
“A strong hospital is vital to the physical and economic health of any community. Moroccan Summer Night is an opportunity to acknowledge the importance of our hospital and contribute toward advancements in healthcare innovation in Madera County,” Markle added.
The foundation fundraisers began 33 years ago as dinner-dances to raise money to purchase medical equipment for the hospital. These events have provided more than $1 million for advanced medical devices to keep the hospital up to date in its ability to care for the patients of Madera, and to provide a place where physicians, nurses and other personnel can practice with the confidence that they are using the best apparatus that medical science makes available.
