Maderan convicted of child sex abuse

A Madera County Superior Court jury has convicted Pedro Montoya of Madera of five counts of sexual abuse against children and affirmed a finding that he acted against multiple victims, according to authorities.

Montoya faces a possible sentence of 85 years to life in state prison when he returns to Department 29 of Madera Superior Court on July 28. Judge Mitchell Rigby will preside.

Montoya’s case has been prosecuted by Senior Deputy District Attorney Traci Wise, whom District Attorney David A. Linn praised along with Madera Police Detective Brent Cederquist and the victims who “bravely disclosed the abuse they suffered,” according to Linn’s office.

Victim’s Services/Community Action Partnership advocates supported the child victims throughout the court process.

Montoya was convicted Thursday.
