Rachel Mancebo
Rachel Mancebo is a fifth year member of the Alview-Dairyland 4-H club. She is starting her first year as her club’s secretary.
Rachel is also active in projects like dairy goats, meat goats, dairy cattle, dairy judging, scrapbooking, public speaking, and engineering automation. She is also trying a new project this year called foods and other. Since Rachel likes to create things, she thinks that this is a good project for her.
Rachel says “What I love about 4-H is that is gives you the opportunity to try so many different things.”
This spring, Rachel attended the 4-H state presentation day at UC Davis. Her speech was about her experiences showing her Holstein dairy cattle. She earned a platinum medal and was invited to give her speech at the California State Fair.
“It was a great experience and I was honored to be invited to give my speech there,” says Rachel.
Another highlight of Rachel’s 4-H year was winning the 4-H Intermediate Master Showmanship competition at the Madera District Fair. She says that the best part of Master Showmanship is getting to make new friends with kids from other clubs, while they hang out together practicing all of the different species.
Rachel’s plans for this new 4-H year are to keep learning, keep working hard, and keep having fun.
