Two minors attempt major gang hit

Two 16-year-olds are in custody in Madera County, charged with trying to assassinate two other teenagers over a gang dispute.

According to Cpl. Josiah Arnold of the Madera Police Department, the two victims, whose names have been withheld because of their ages, were shot May 20 by two members of a rival gang near Lake Street and Yosemite Avenue in downtown Madera. One victim was shot in the arm, and the other in the back. After the shots were fired, the driver of the shooters’ car reportedly rammed the victim with the wounded back with his vehicle in an attempt to finish the job.

Both victims are expected to recover.

The Madera Police Department’s patrol division, detectives and special investigations unit arrested the suspects, whose names are being withheld because of their ages. Officers also were able to locate the gun reportedly used in the shooting...
